Designing your Bespoke Item
The best way to start is to have a look at the shop and see whether there is a particular binding or style that you like the most. I am listing below the main bindings I offer, the list is not exhaustive.
For cover inspiration, check the news section where I list most of the decorative paper I stock.
Make it Real
Have a look through the shop or below for your ideal binding, then let me know:
- The size (A4, A5 etc)
- The shape (square, landscape, portrait)
- The number of pages
- Any paper preference, especially for sketchbooks
Finally, have a thought about the colour or style of your item. Some ideas of paper available are in the news section. Maybe you would like an added customisation with a hand calligraphed note.
I will then contact you with a quote.
Please note that all exchanges will be by mail and not by phone
Let's go
Choose your Binding
Make your journal truly unique with a binding that stands out.
Secret Belgian Binding
An unusual binding adding an elegant twist to the classic square spine
Coptic Binding on Exposed Spine
A historical binding that replaced the Egyptian rolls and assisted the rapid spread of the early Christian message. The spine can be covered if preferred. The spine allows the book to open completely flat, irrespective of its thickness.
French Stitch
A decorative stitch combining long stitch and coptic exposed binding. This book also opens completely flat.
Long Stitch Binding
An easy going binding suitable for soft coversm the spine can be exposed of not. When interwoven, it is refered as French Stitch but it has endless decorative possibilities, a star shape being the most popular.
Daisy Stitch
A twist on the long stitch for a rustic, cosy feel. Suitable for soft cover, always on covered spine.
Raised Cord Binding
The classic medieval binding. Traditionally worked with leather but here with a vegan option. I only work with leather scrap from other crafters.
Ladder Stitch Binding
A combination of coptic and long stitch for a modern and contemporary look.
Japanese Binding
A versatile binding traditionally with a soft cover and a cord, but that can be adapted to a hard- cover, minimalist sewing or adorn with a ribbon rather than a cord. Very adaptable, it is suitable for journals, sketchbooks and photo albums
