If you are considering restoring a much-loved book, photo album, or sketchbook, here are a few practical points to keep in mind before getting in touch.

Before We Begin

• Assessment: Please send as many clear photographs as possible of the item and the areas of concern. Your quote will be based on these images.
  
• Deadline: Let me know if you are working towards a particular date. Restoration is careful, hands-on work, and lead times can vary.
• Budget: If you have a budget in mind, please share it. This helps me suggest an approach that respects both the book and your expectations.
• Collection & Delivery: I understand this is an emotionally charged item, and you may prefer avoiding courier, etc. Meetings are available by appointment.

Clear communication at this stage avoids misunderstandings later.

What to Expect

You will receive:

• A written treatment report
• Before and after photographs
• Clear documentation of the work carried out

What is Restoration
Restoration describes the treatment of an object to aesthetically and functionally return it to its original state. It may follow conservation work but is a distinct process.
This is the service I provide; it is suitable for an emotionally/practically valued item, not a financial asset. 

I do not offer Conservation services.
Conservation uses historically appropriate techniques and materials. This is not just about usability; it is also about history. For high value, rare and first edition items, please contact a professionally trained conservator.
