A tactile cloth-bound journal with exposed Coptic spine and quiet strength.

Hand-bound in my micro bindery, this A5 journal pairs a finely distressed cotton textile cover with leather straps that reinforce the exposed Coptic spine. The result is both tactile and enduring — soft in the hand, strong in structure.

The Coptic binding allows the book to open completely flat, making it a comfortable companion for daily writing, reflective journaling, or recording passing thoughts and memories.

Inside, you will find 144 pages of smooth cream paper, offering a calm, dependable surface for pen or pencil. Whether used as a personal diary, a repository of stories, or a space for ideas as they unfold, this journal is designed to support quiet, uninterrupted writing.

Binding

Style: COPTIC BINDING

Fact: Coptic binding is an ancient 2nd-century AD technique from early Christian Egypt, considered one of the earliest true codex forms. It features an exposed spine with decorative chain-stitch sewing, uses no glue, and relies entirely on thread for strength. This allows the book to open completely flat, even back on itself, making it ideal for sketchbooks and artist journals. The spine is traditionally left exposed, but can be covered, the sewing hidden or exposed; the rhythmic sewing pattern provides both structure and beauty.
