Hand-dyed indigo pages for bold expression and layered creative work.
This A4 art journal is crafted for artists who value surface, substance, and visible process. Inside are 180 pages of thick cotton rag paper, tree-free and made from upcycled textile fibres. Each sheet is hand-dyed with natural indigo, where subtle brush variations remain visible — a quiet record of the maker’s hand.
The paper is sun-dried, leaving beautifully rough, deckled edges that frame every page with organic character. Substantial and absorbent, it performs confidently with gouache, mixed media, collage, light watercolour, and scrapbooking.
Bound with an exposed Coptic spine, the journal opens completely flat, making it practical for double-page spreads and detailed composition. The visible stitching celebrates traditional craftsmanship while providing strength and flexibility.
Generous in size and presence, this book can evolve into a working sketchbook, an experimental mixed media journal, or a striking handmade portfolio.

Lightly textured yet beautifully stable, it offers excellent performance across all media, making it as versatile as it is sustainable.

Style: COPTIC BINDING
Fact: Coptic binding is an ancient 2nd-century AD technique from early Christian Egypt, considered one of the earliest true codex forms. It features an exposed spine with decorative chain-stitch sewing, uses no glue, and relies entirely on thread for strength. This allows the book to open completely flat, even back on itself, making it ideal for sketchbooks and artist journals. The spine is traditionally left exposed, but can be covered, the sewing hidden or exposed; the rhythmic sewing pattern provides both structure and beauty.
